to expect - Our exclusive
apartment
at Vila Praia Dona Ana, often nicknamed Baleia (whale) due to it's curvy shape, is located in the charming town of Lagos. It is just a short 5 minute walk from the famous Praia Dona Ana beach and
a 10 minute walk to the old historic Lagos town. This three story elegant
design, catches your attention with beautifully manicured gardens,
and a swimming pool all nestled within a walled sunterrace. The
property grounds are elevated from the road side, and surrounded by a walled
and gated compound, offering considerable
privacy.
This offers an ideal setting for a family to enjoy both the adult and kids pool
in a secure environment. Our apartment is fitted with
Air Conditioning / Heating.
All rooms are spacious, bright and have large windows
with electronic blinds.
   
  
Our
Vila Dona Ana apartment offers you endless features to pamper yourself
during your stay. From the front balcony you can relax on our elegant
sage green garden
furniture and enjoy a spectacular view of the Atlantic Ocean in
the distance, with its wonderful blend of turquoise colours. Sip
on a glass of fine port or enjoy a tasty meal as you count the variety
of boats floating by. Take note of your route to Praia Dona Ana
to your right, with the two palm trees down the road as your landmark.
From the back balcony, you can catch the afternoon sun and ponder
dinner plans at one of the restaurants just down below.

Arrival - A to Z
The following information will help you understand what to expect
during your stay at our self-catering condominium apartment. Thank you for respecting these property rules which are intended to maintain our very high standards and to make your stay more enjoyable.
Access to Grounds: Guests listed
on the booking form have free use of the pools.
Additional Bedding: If required,
please bring your own waterproof mattress covers for the beds.
Air Conditioner/Heater: Combined
units are available for your usage. Caution: Electricity in Portugal
is incredibly expensive as compared to many other countries, so
we are careful with our consumption. Please be sensitive with your
usage to avoid exceeding the base electricity fee built into your
apartment rental rates. Please
remember to turn off the Air Conditioner / Heater before you leave the apartment each day, for both safety reasons and to minimize excess charges. Closing the room doors keeps the heat in and warms up the room quickly.
Beach Towels: Bring own beach towels with you as they are not provided.
Breakages & Damages: Any
breakages or damages are the responsibility of the occupant and
will be deducted from the security deposit. Please ensure that any
breakages or damages are reported to our property manager as soon
as they occur so that they can be resolved for the next guest. For
hygiene reasons, a wet bed will result in your being charged for
a new mattress.
Check-in / Check-out Times:
Check-in - 2:00 pm. Check-out - 10:00 am. This
allows time to properly clean your apartment for the next guest.
Cleaning: The apartment and
its contents must be left clean and tidy at the end of the rental
period (e.g. dishes washed, all garbage removed). Any excess cleaning
charges will be deducted from the security deposit.
Dishwasher: Please remember to wash your dishes.
Dishwasher requires 3-in-1 tablets, consisting of salt, detergent and rinse-aid. Salt is critical to avoid damage to the dishwasher, due to the water in Portugal. This will help us maintain our high standards and keep maintenance costs down. Tablets are available at all supermarkets.
Electric Underblankets: These
blankets are simply wonderful in the winter months, to warm up the
sheets for a comfortable nights sleep. We have 4 Electric Underblankets,
one for each bed. You place each blanket between the mattress and
the base sheet to warm up your bed to one of three settings. Please
remember to turn off the Electric Underblankets in the morning.
Garbage/Rubbish Important: Please remember to take the garbage out daily to avoid ants and bad odours. The nearest garbage bin is 100 meters away from the apartment building. On exiting the driveway turn right up the hill and note the garbage bins on the left! It is a bit of an unusual process in Portugal, where each family is responsible for taking their own garbage out to the Large Plastic Outdoor Garbage Bin, very near to the apartment. As a routine, we tend to take the garbage with us each morning as we head out for the day. We toss the garbage into the outdoor garbage bin that we happen to pass on a particular street along the way.
In Case of Problem(s): We fully
expect you to be very happy with the accommodation and amenities
provided. However, if you encounter any difficulties during your
stay, please contact our property manager immediately so that a
resolution can be found. We will provide you the contact info for our property manager with your final booking package.
Insurance: Travel Insurance
is compulsory under EC Law. All occupants are responsible for ensuring
that they have adequate Travel Insurance and a 24 hour emergency
telephone number. The use of the accommodation and amenities are
offered on the condition that they are used entirely at the occupant's
own risk. We cannot accept responsibility for accidents, injuries,
illness, death or loss or damage to users' or visitors' property
or belongings, including motor vehicles, however caused.
Keys: Keys are provided by
our property manager upon your arrival at the apartment. We request your Lagos arrival details and set an arrival time for our property manager to meet you in front of the apartment.
Maid Service: Maid Service is self-catering style. Bed linen and towels are changed weekly. Maids will arrive between
10:00am and 4:00pm. Maids will generally tidy the apartment. Maids will
not wash dishes or take out the garbage, etc. Maids will always appreciate a tip.
Noise: Our apartment is located
in a family-oriented location, offering privacy and tranquility.
Therefore no loud partying is allowed, to respect the other guests.
Your stay may be terminated if this condition is not met.
Occupants: Strictly limited
to those listed on the booking form. Maximum number of occupants
is 4. No pets allowed. Admission will be refused or terminated if
this condition is not met.
Property Manager: Our property manager is a resident of Lagos. We will provide you the contact info for our property manager with your final booking package.
Recycle Please: Lagos has a good recycling program for glass, plastic and paper products. We simply place these items in a separate bag and take them with us on our garbage run. Large Plastic Recycle Bins are located beside many (not all) of the garbage bins. Please look for them. There are three recycle bins for each of glass, plastic and paper products. The recycle bins are well marked with photos of what is allowed and disallowed in each recycle bin. Please be environmentally friendly and recycle!
Rules of Property: The occupants
agree to respect the property rules listed in this "On Arrival" section as well as those posted at
poolside. These rules are intended to make your stay more enjoyable.
Security: Please double-lock
the front door when going out. Remember to bring the key with you
when you leave. The door self-locks. Do not leave the key on the
inside of the door when you go out or you will be locked out and entry will necessitate calling the fire brigade with a hefty charge to you. So please be careful!
Self-catering: This accommodation
is booked on a self-catering basis. You will need to provide your
own groceries and household goods, e.g.. soaps, shampoo, detergents,
toilet paper etc. You will also need to wash your dishes and take out your garbage.
Slippers: All floors are ceramic tiled. Please bring slippers for your comfort and to minimize noise to other guests. Sock feet tend to absorb the dust on the cleanest of ceramic floors, so slippers are advisable.
Smoking: No smoking inside
apartment. Please restrict smoking to the balconies (better views,
anyway!). Damage from cigarette burns will be charged at full replacement
cost.
Sunbeds: The blue/white sunbeds
(lounge chairs) found on our balcony are intended for private use
on our balcony only. Please do not take these down to the pool.
We have a separate set of sunbeds at poolside, specifically intended
for pool use. They are marked with our SimplyLagos logo and our apartment number.
Suntan Oils / Creams: Please
take care not to sit on apartment furniture and bedding when using
these products. Suntan oils and creams are near impossible to remove from upholstery. We appreciate your cooperation to maintain the high
standard of the apartment for your next visit.
Swimming Pool: Enjoy free use of the pools during summer months. Pools are open-air. Please do not use sunbed mattresses in the pools. Diving is strictly
prohibited.
Utility Charges: Weekly rental rates include a standard amount of electricity and gas. Our property manager will check the electricity and gas meters before and after your stay. They will advise of any excess charges. Please note that excess charges will apply with regular use of Air Conditioner/Heater and will be deducted from your security deposit. Refer to our Rates page for amounts included.
Washing Machine: Usage for our High Efficiency Washer. Use only Liquid Laundry Soap (30ml). Powered laundry soap will block the drain pipes and may cause flooding. This is an occasional problem that may be triggered by clients using powdered laundry soap combined with the water calcifying. Please call our property manager if you notice any water leakage on use of the washing machine
Water Heater: Water is heated by via a modern high quality water heater in our apartment. It runs on gas and is triggered by the water pressure. Turn the hot water tap on full until the water is hot. It takes a good 5 minutes, so please be patient. Then adjust the water to your desired temperature.
