The Solitude

We really enjoy getting up early and greeting the day, before the Lagos activity gets underway. Our early morning walks have taken us to some fascinating places offering a unique perspective that only the wee morning hours bring. You can walk fearlessly on some of the sidewalk-less roads without anxiety of encountering ambitious drivers.

If you enjoy, as we do, meditation of any type and taking a "pit stop for your soul", get up really early and head out for these walks at 6:00 am or 7:00 am. You will be rewarded. So you say, what in the world would make it worth getting up this early? You will experience a sense of calm around Lagos that you will only feel at this time.

One morning along our route, we enjoyed the scent of fresh bread being delivered to a little grocery store (that still exists) and to a local restaurant. A fisherman cycled past us with determination, as he headed towards his favourite cliffs with a fishing rod in hand.
